Scrimshaw Lord Nelson Knob Handle Walking Cane With Black Beechwood Shaft and Silver Collar Item #: 1070 This beautifully made and artistically designed knobbed scrimshaw handle walking cane displays its bold courage that Lord Nelson had. There is a portrait of Lord Nelson's face on one side, with a sailing ship from the 1700's on another, and an English crest on another side. You will feel proud to walk with Lord Nelson legacy of honor and glory. Over the years 1794-1805, under Lord Nelson's leadership the British Navy proved its supremacy over the French. His most famous encounter was at Cape Trafalgar, where he saved Britain from the invasion of Napoleon. There he was struck down by a sniper's bullet and soon died on October 21, 1805; which became Trafalgar Day. Although this holiday is a celebration that commemorates one of the greatest victories at sea, it also memorializes the death of England's most beloved admirals, Lord Nelson. England commemorates Trafalgar Day every year on October 21. Scrimshaw etching is a unique art form dating back to the American Whale man. Once carved and finely detailed out of ivory or whale bone, you'll find our selection is art-crafted from a resin material to look like an original. The silver ring collar also brings sophistication to the neck of the black beechwood shaft. It is treated with a semi-gloss water-resistant finish for protection. Also, the wood is kiln-cured for strength and durability. Compared to other canes, these are more resistant to splintering or cracking, ensuring a superior product.
